History of SCMUN
SCMUN Founders
Irwin Stein
Mr. Stein helped in the establishment of NCPA and was its Founding Director. He continues to work for the development of quality education for Chinese youth as Director of ULink College. He has always said that a quality school experience should include opportunities for students to learn about the major problems of the world around them, and to exchange ideas about solving these problems. The model united nations concept serves as a way for this experience to become reality for students.
Mr. Stein is a co-author of the book, “Uniting the Nations’, which has served as an Instructional Guide for MUN students in many parts of the world. He served as Advisory Board Chairman to the prestigious Hague Model United Nations and has established MUN conferences in Cairo, Caracas, Beijing, Panama, and Taiwan since 1977. The South China MUN follows the principles and procedural rules of all of these conference centres and is dedicated to the struggle for a more harmonious international community.
Sarah Boulware
Mrs. Sarah Boulware was the former NCPA MUN director. Mrs. Boulware had been involved with MUN for the past 20 years, participating in various roles such as delegate, chair, conference Secretary-General, Society President, MUN Director, and MUN class teacher. She assisted in the inaugural SCMUN I conference with Mr. Irwin Stein, Mr. Zach Holz, and the teachers of NCPA. Working with the NCPA MUN students and building the SCMUN conference at NCPA with Mr. Stein was an incredible experience with which Mrs. Boulware has been very thankful to be involved.

SCMUN I
SCMUN I Conference Record
In March 2013, Nansha College Preparatory Academy hosted the first South China Model United Nations (SCMUN), established by Irwin Stein, the former director of the school. The conference was facilitated under The Hague's MUN (THIMUN) rules and principles with all students in participation. Together with several students in U-Link, the first conference was held successfully. Meanwhile, all teachers were involved in the approval panel to assist the conference. The first conference went smoothly.
SCMUN II
SCMUN II Conference Record
In March 2014, Nansha College Preparatory Academy hosted the second South China Model United Nations (SCMUN) by the director of SCMUN, Sarah Boulware and Secretary General Serena Yang. Also, we invited Irwin Stein, the founding member of TAIMUN as well as SCMUN, to be our SCMUN II Keynote Speaker. This short video has included the opening/closing ceremony, opening speech, lobbying time, debate, and voting procedure of the conference. In here, you can see the vigour of our delegates, the environment of our conference location and the growth of SCMUN.
SCMUN II Officer Welcomes Video
A video made by the Officer Team which led by Secretary General Serena Yang, Deputy Secretary General Max Huang and 24 chairs from 12 different committees was played in the open ceremony of SCMUN II. Their welcoming speeches encouraged the fellow delegates to cherish such a precious opportunity for learning, for growing, for succeeding.

In March 2015, Nansha College Preparatory Academy hosted the third South China Model United Nations (SCMUN) by the director of SCMUN, Sarah Boulware and Secretary General Serena Yang.
This is a welcoming video shot, with the purpose of welcoming every delegates to the conference, and helping them fully participate with delicacy. In this video, all Chairs and Managers have been organised into a funny skit to comprehensively and throughly analyse each of their topics.
